川尻花火大会☆MORE FIREWORKS!
In the morning O-chan came to return a CD and we went out for lunch at Tiger Man. Usually when people ask me if I like American food, my reply is no.... but this is not your typical image of so-called American food like hamburgers, hot-dogs, pizza, and so on. Tiger Man has REAL food. Their specialty, as I am told, is "SOUL FOOD", but it is a total east-meets-west experience if you ask me. The owner and his wife (Kuroki-san) built the place from scratch after visiting the States to do their research. The place is really like an American Diner. I am such a dork for not taking pictures -- but the place is all wood, spacious enought to forget that you are in Japan and always has Elvis tunes playing. The food is scrumptious! The salads are proper salads with beans and vegetables -- and a touch of RENKON, which is not American cusine, but oh such a nice touch! The menu is seasonal and fresh -- and the prices are right. I am starting to sound like a commercial, so I might as well tell you where this place is if you are missing REAL AMERICAN HOME-COOKING it is in ASODA 2-10-12... Anyway... There is more to Tuesday than Tiger Man... Tomoyuki and his dance group from Amanda were performing in Yamaga. I really wish I had seen him. He said he messed up, but I am sure it was a great show. Too bad I couldn't be at two places at once... I went to Kawashiri O-bon Festival instead! Because of the rain the dance shows were cancelled. Too sad. I met up with Motomi and her uncle and later on her mommy and daddy came too. The fireworks were beautiful -- much more of a competition than the ones at the castle on Friday. It had been raining in the afternoon, so the crowds weren't too bad and the opening ceremony was gorgeous. トムが玉名でサルサのステージがあったんだ！本当に観たかったけど。。。川尻に行った。夕方からユカタを着て、モトミちゃんとオジちゃんとみんなで川尻花火大会に行きました。もとみパパの会社の駐車場で車を止まって、少しだけ歩いてすぐ川に着きました。午後から雨たいが降ってたのでダンスショーがキャンセル。かわいそう。
They lit hundreds, maybe a thousand candles and let them float down the river. There were also small boats and larger candles to commemorate people who passed away this year. It was a beautiful ceremony with mandras and traditional Japanese instruments. It is part of the O-bon (BON FESTIVAL) celebration in Kawashiri. Surprisingly, it has a long history. 伝統的な楽器と音楽を聞かせながら、川に蝋燭をいっぱい流しました。 大きいな炉即は今年亡くなった方の数と言われていました。川尻でお盆の歴史がかなり長いと聞いてびっくりした。 しかし、とてもキレイだった！
There were at least 7 companies that participated in the competition. Each fireworks show started with lighting a triangle-shaped "arch" with the company's name.会社７つぐらい参加しました。ちゃんと覚えきらん！ 来年メモを書くね！
The fireworks were impressive.

After the show, we went to take PURIKURA. I have had this Yukata for 7 years now... we estimated. I don't think I will wear it again this season -- so we had to get a pic in those little machines... Aren't we cute... haahah 着てるユカタを７年前京都で買いました。 古くて、アンチックとして売れるかなー？！高校生のようにわくわくして、☆プリクラPURIKURA☆を久しぶりにとりました。 可愛いどう？！
家に帰るまえびっくりドンキーでご飯をしました。 本当にサセボバーがを食べたかったけど店が閉まった！ 残念。We wanted Sasebo Burgers, but the shop closed... so I had a whimpy salad at the Surprised Donkey... BOO HOO... I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too. ¶ martes, agosto 15, 2006
